Dersin Tanımı (Course Description)			Endüstri Mühendisliğinin (EM) tanımı, tarihçesi, gelişimi, Endüstri devrimleri, bir meslek olarak EM, temel EM kavramları, EM’de kullanılan temel araç, yöntem ve yaklaşımlar
			Definition of Industrial Engineering (IE), the history and evolution of IE, Industrial revolutions, IE as a profession, basic IE terminology, basic IE tools, methods, and approaches.
Dersin Amacı (Course Objectives)			Dersin amacı öğrencilere Endüstri Mühendisliğini (EM) ve EM’nin temel konuları tanıtmaktır. Bu konular öğrencinin eğitimi boyunca alacağı temel derslere giriş niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu dersle EM’nin teorik ve uygulamalı konularına giriş yapılmaktadır. Öğrencilerin EM terminolojisi ile tanışmaları ve bilgilenmeleri amaçlanmaktadır. Öğrencilerin Endüstri Mühendisliğinde etik davranışı anlamaları amaçlanmaktadır.
			Students are introduced to Industrial Engineering (IE) and basic IE subjects. The main topics of the 4 year IE curriculum are presented as an introduction of theoretical and applied IE subjects. The student familiarizes with the basic IE terminology. The student identifies ethical behaviour in IE.
Dersin Öğrenme Çıktıları (Course Learning Outcomes)			Endüstri Mühendisinin temel kavramları ve çalışma alanları hakkında fikir sahibi olur. Endüstri Mühendisliği’nde kullanılan temel kavramları ve yaklaşımlaı tanır ve öğrenir. EM alanındaki bilgi, tutum ve becerilerini geliştirmenin önemini anlar. (Örneğin; problem çözme becerisi, proje planlama becerisi, takımlarla çalışma becerisi, etkin iletişim becerisi.) Endüstri Mühendisliğinde etik davranışı ve profesyonel standartları anlar ve bunları etik ikilemlere uygular.
			Have knowledge about the basic IE subjects and areas in which Industrial Engineers work. Identify and define the basic terminology and concepts of IE. Understand the importance of acquiring the knowledge and skills that are essential for an IE now and in the future. (e.g. problem solving, planning a project, working with a team, communicating effectively) Identify standards of professionalism and ethical behavior in IE and apply these standards successfully to ethical dilemmas.
