Process And Required Documents For Internships
All students are strongly advised to carefully read the ITU-North Cyprus Internship General Principles document. The principles can be accessed under the internship section of the ITU-North Cyprus Student Affairs webpage or by clicking here.
- Students intending to undertake an internship must first find an internship placement. The internship dates are determined by the student in accordance with the rules. Finding an internship placement is the responsibility of the student. Internship announcements and quotas sent by companies to faculties and departments can be followed on the announcement boards.
- Information regarding the suitability of the company where the internship will be conducted can be obtained from the program's internship committee.
- At least 15 days before the internship start date, log in to the ITU portal system at https://portal.itu.edu.tr/ using your username and password. On the Portal, navigate to Student → Internship Procedures → Internship Registration and complete the application through the system. After submitting the internship application, proceed with the steps as outlined by the documents generated by the system.
- The Internship Registration Form is filled out. After creating your internship registration, download the Internship Agreement and EK-1 Form from the system, and complete them.
- Once all information is completed and the "I have read and accept the internship regulations" section is clicked, the internship registration is finalized. You can access the registered internship through Student → Internship Procedures → Internship Information.
- All students must carefully read the İTÜ-KKTC Student Internship Agreement to understand when documents need to be uploaded and to obtain other necessary information.
- Students undertaking an internship for the first time must take and pass the Online Occupational Health and Safety Exam to access the internship registration section. (Students who have previously passed the exam do not need to retake it.

While creating the Internship Schedule: According to the necessary regulations (Framework Regulation on Practical Education in Higher Education by YÖK, and the General Internship Principles of İTÜ and İTÜ-KKTC), internships must be conducted for at least 3 full days per week and up to 6 full days. - The "Internship Completion Document" (Form EK-3) downloaded from the portal must be signed by the company and uploaded to the portal within five business days after the internship ends.

The internship report and all supporting documents (internship contract, EK-1, EK-2, EK-3, internship record book) should be combined into a single PDF file and submitted to the program internship coordinator either within one month after the start of the following academic year during the summer term, or within 15 days after the end of the internship during the mid-term period.
- If the internship includes at least one day during a lecture or final exam week, the student must provide proof that they did not have any classes or finals on those days. This can be done by attaching screenshots of the courses they took, their class schedule, and final exam schedule to the internship report PDF. Students who completed their internship during the first week before course registration should also include a screenshot showing their course registration date.
- The internship report does not require approval from the company official on every page, as it is submitted electronically. However, the “Internship Report Approval Form” must be filled out and signed by the company official, then submitted to the Program Internship Coordinator. The content of the “Internship Report Approval Form” must match the “Contents” page of the report. If this form is not submitted correctly, the internship will be deemed invalid.
- Internships are evaluated twice a year. Due to professional regulations and requirements, Maritime programs are exempt from this rule. For summer internships, students who registered for the internship via portal.itu.edu.tr in October must register for Ninova (Program Code 500).
- Internship reports are collected electronically through the Ninova system. Students must register for the (Program Code 500) Internship course via Ninova to access announcements and upload their reports.
- The internship report must be prepared in accordance with the program-specific requirements and uploaded electronically to the "Program Code 500 Internship" course on the Ninova system. All relevant sections must be completed and the guidelines must be followed.
- Internship reports must be submitted via Ninova by the specified deadline. Reports submitted late or not submitted at all will not be accepted. For students in the 9th semester and beyond, internships conducted during the academic terms will be evaluated in May.
- If your internship report is accepted by the committee, it will be recorded in ITU SIS.
- Students planning to do internships abroad must submit a letter of request to the program internship committee at least 15 days before starting the internship and submit the approved letter to the Student Affairs Office.
Important Note

Students who, for any reason, are unable to attend the internship they applied for or decide to discontinue the internship must contact the Student Affairs Office as soon as possible and provide the necessary information.
