See 97. Students from the Turkish Republic who will be studying in TRNC universities can benefit from the support of the Republic of Turkey General Directorate of Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution. Turkish Republic citizens who will be in the TRNC longer than 3 months are required to enter the country using their passports and to obtain a Student Residency Permit. The Student Residency Permit application must be submitted online to TRNC Interior Ministry and valid health insurance should be obtained prior to submitting the application for residency.  Since health insurance payment is done during residency permit application, students should not pay any money to universities under the name of a health insurance premium. In accordance with the regulations in the TRNC, all foreign students who are temporary residents are required to present a medical report during the first registration process. A foreign student will upload the results of the original laboratory examination (report and/or lab), which is not exceeding the registration date for 2 months and having the results of HCV-HIV-HBSAG-RPR with a lung scope or a lung graph for tuberculosis, obtained from a general, special or university hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health of Turkish Republic to Student Automation System. The uploaded result of the laboratory examination will be approved over the single physician report fee specified in the regulation on fees tariff of health institutions in force of the TRNC Ministry of Health. However, in cases where the Ministry will require additional inspection, health institutions will pay full fees according to the fee tariff set out in the fees tariff regulation. Students, who do not have a health report or whose reports have exceeded two months, will process the student permits through the automation system in order to receive a health report. In accordance with the TRNC Health Fund Law and Health Institutions’ Payment Rates Code, provided that students from the Turkish Republic pay a fee that is 10% of the minimum wage to the TRNC Ministry of Health at the beginning of each financial year, they can make use of the public health services throughout that year free of charge. Students can pay the money to the TRNC Ministry of Health account via Cooperative Central Bank’s virtual post using Automation System and the system will direct them to the next step upon the completion of the transfer. Students who do not pay the mentioned fee are required to pay the full cost to the public health facilities in the event of using them and they are required to pay the institution they get the treatment from. Detailed information about residency permit; health insurance and report; and information about rules and regulations regarding universities can be obtained from the TRNC Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of National Education and Culture respectively.

See 198. To apply this program, students should submit “Seafarer Medical Certificate” obtained from Directorate General of Health for Border and Coastal Areas instead of a regular medical report. Students have to follow the criteria set by the “Regulation for Seafarers” and related changes (as mentioned in the Official Gazette no 28390 of August 23, 2012) and the requirements to become a seafarer.
